Mylar Method Lithography: The Process

1. The image is drawn onto tracing paper or mylar with a mechanical pencil on a light table. 2. The drawing is placed on a printing plate, in a vacuum table.  Once there is firm contact between the drawing and plate, the bulbs expose the drawing to the plate.

3. The plate is
developed at the sink
4. Black ink is rolled onto a glass slab. The image is wet with a sponge.

5. The wet plate is rolled with ink, then re-wet and rolled 2-3 more times to make  the image dark or "up full." 6. The paper is placed on the plate.

7. A sheet of plastic is put on top of the paper and plate. Together they are run through the press. 8. The print is pulled from the plate.

9. Each Print is hand painted with lightfast inks and signed.
